Kick off Your Dancin' Shoes

Have you ever wanted to do something different at your wedding?  Something to break the ice?  Something that will bring the melting pot of guests together?

A fun way to do this is with The Shoe Game!  You will have to coordinate this with your DJ or bridal party beforehand (or your wedding coordinator can do it for you!)  Here's how you play:

The bride and groom will sit in chairs back to back in the center of the dance floor.  They each remove their shoes and give one to the other.  They each will hold one of the groom's shoes in one hand, one of the brides shoes in the other.  Next, the DJ, Maid of Honor, Best Man, or whoever else you have chosen to participate will take turns asking a simple question about the couple.  Examples are:
  • Who is the better driver?
  • Who wears the pants in the relationship?
  • Who is more likely to stop and help someone in need?
  • Who controls the remote control?
  • Who starts the most fights?
  • Who usually apologizes first?
  • Who has the smelliest feet?
  • Who is more likely to skip a shower if they can get away with it?
To answer each question the bride and groom raise the shoe of the person that they think fits the question.  The questions above are generic and can work for any couple, but you can personalize it very easily with the help of the bridal party.  For example, if the couple has a dog "Who is most likely to skip out on using the pooper scooper?" would be a great question.  If the couple likes opposing football teams you can ask "Whose team is more likely to win the next Superbowl?".  The game gives you lots of options to be unique with the questions and it really gets people laughing.  If you are really risky you can open it up to all the guests to ask questions on the spot and deviate from the pre-made list.

You can also let other people play and have the maid of honor and best man sit back to back to see how they would answer questions about the couple.  Along those same lines, you can include the whole bridal party and even the parents.

Bonus:  Have the groom wear crazy socks to get an extra laugh.
